Vietnam: television History, which has a history of six years from planning to completion, provides a detailed analysis of the costs, causes and consequences of this controversial but confusing war. This series looks at the whole war-- from the first hour of the war to the end, it provides us with a lot of visual, verbal descriptions of the war-- that the war has changed an entire generation. and continues to distort American perceptions and thinking about military and foreign policy. The series was first shown on PBS in 1983 with 13 episodes, and was later adapted into an 11-hour series that was rereleased in 1997. The series won seven Emmys, the George Foster Peabody, the duPont/Columbia Journalism, the George Polk, two Writer's Guild Awards, and the the Erik Barnouw Award organized by American historians.
