On the face of it, Yangzi (Yichun) appears to be a gentle and polite traditional woman, but she has an avant-garde way of thinking. Her teaching career in Taipei has given her a fetus that is still in her womb. And there is a conflict with her parents about whether to give birth to him (her)-- she doesn't think that a child must have a father. Although the owner of the small bookstore is also a friend of Yoko, Zhao (Tadashi Asano) likes her, but because he is not mentally prepared to take responsibility, he did not reach out a pair of timely hands when Yoko was most sleepy in his life. The film, made to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ozu's birth, failed to replicate the Tokyo scene in Ozu's lens (because it has disappeared), but copied the quiet and tranquil mood and restrained emotions in Ozu's film. But after all, time has passed for decades, and the perspective of forbearance has changed a lot.
