The story takes place in long Island, New York, where big entrepreneur Arthur (E.G. Marshall E.G. Marshall) and his equally successful wife Eve (Jeradin Peggy Geraldine Page) live here, and they have three children-Renada (Diane Keaton Diane Keaton), Joey (Mary Beth Mary Beth Hurt) and Flynn (Kristin Griffith). As the eldest daughter of the family, Renada is a famous poet. However, because of her romantic nature, she has not been able to have a happy marriage. Second daughter Joey married a film director, although she has a literary dream in her heart, but in reality, she has to be a stay-at-home wife behind her husband. The youngest daughter Flynn is eager to be an actress, but the gap between reality and ideal fills her heart with anxiety. Arthur and Eve recalled their three daughters home because they were going to announce a very important thing-separation.
