When a mining accident mercilessly descends on a small coal mining town at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains, three very different locals are inexplicably involved in a complex secret whirlpool. Amos Jenkins, the only survivor of the mine accident, became the focus of the investigation. With more and more questions about who is responsible for the disaster, the son of a senior coal mine executive is missing. The child's mother, Diane, and her husband, Bill, were estranged from each other as they searched in vain. In the end, they had to turn to the local church for help, where she found Amos a comforting friend and met her son's classmate Owen Briggs, who she knew had appeared when her son disappeared.
