In 1970, in order to force the army to listen to his speech persuading soldiers to restore Japan's former honor and "purity", Japanese right-wing writer Yukio Mishima took General Mishima hostage. But his speech was ridiculed by the soldiers, and the angry Yukio Mishima returned to the house and committed suicide by caesarean section. The film shows the life of Yukio Mishima in four parts: (1) views on truth and beauty; (2) artistic views; (3) military activities; and (4) the unity of sword and pen.
