Chavez (Harry Dayne Stanton Harry Dean Stanton) is lost in the uninhabited desert of Texas and is in a coma because he is weak. The hospital contacts his brother Walter (Dean Stockwell Dean Stockwell) to pick him up. Chavez, who was discharged from the hospital, remained silent until he saw the "Paris, Texas" sign. Back at his brother's house in Los Angeles, Chavez meets his son, Hunter (Hunter Carson Hunter Carson), whose siblings are actually adoptive parents. But Hunter didn't accept his sudden father. Later, Chavez regained the child's heart in a very special way. Through communication, Chavez learns the whereabouts of the child's birth mother, Jane (Natasha Kinski Nastassja Kinski). As a result, father and son embarked on a road to find their mother. This film won the Golden Palme d'Or for best picture at the 37th Cannes Film Festival.
