The beautiful, kind-hearted but somewhat strange Sayako (acted the role of Shiroshi Ishikawa) lives alone in an old house in the suburbs with a group of lovely cats. She seems to be born with the temperament of attracting cats, and she loves these lovely little creatures as much as her grandmother, who died two years ago. The carefree night son packed the cats in a small trailer every day and walked along the river bank, singing the unique "rental cat" cry. In the process, she successively meets the rich but lonely old woman Shouzi Yoshioka (Reiko Kusamura), Goro Yoshida, a middle-aged man who has been working alone in Tokyo for six years (Mitsuya Mitsuki), and the branch manager of a car rental company for 12 years. Yoshikawa (Meibu Yamada) and Yoshizawa (Tanaka Gui), a high school classmate in the underworld. The lazy and hot summer days, and the casual freedom of the night, and her cats witnessed all kinds of joys and sorrows in the world.
