Police officer Ferguson (Humphrey Bogart) got a witness who was willing to charge the head of the organization after years of hard work, but although under close protection, the witness still panicked and fell to his death. All the efforts were in vain, and the police officer began to recall the cause of the whole case. After many days of work, Breittagne Wendast was admitted to hospital, and Bogart asked his old friend Raoul Walsh to help guide him until Wendast recovered. However, Wendast's condition was even more serious and did not recover within months, during which time Walsh had completed the film. However, he refused to sign it because he thought the film cost Wendster a lot of hard work and he couldn't just take it away.
