The Lady 7.1

Aung San Suu Kyi (Michelle Yeoh) was assassinated when her father, Aung San, led Burma to independence at the age of 3. When Aung San Suu Kyi grows up, he moves to England and marries university professor Mike Aris (David Thewlis) and leads a happy life. It was not until her mother du Qinji was critically ill that Aung San Suu Kyi returned to her native Myanmar. When Aung San Suu Kyi visited her mother in the hospital, she met many people who were injured by the Burmese army during the 8888 pro-democracy movement, which inspired her political ambitions. She understood that as the daughter of Aung San, she was supposed to lead the Burmese people to strive for autonomy and carry out political activities. Aung San Suu Kyi formed the Burmese National League for Democracy to participate in the election and won a majority of seats in parliament, but the military refused to hand over power and instead decided to take full control of Aung San Suu Kyi. The military broke up Aung San Suu Kyi's family, put her under house arrest for more than 10 years, and banned her husband and two sons from entering the country. But they sought international recognition of Aung San Suu Kyi abroad, because it was the only way to ensure that she would not be forgotten or disappear in silence. Thanks to the efforts of her family, Aung San Suu Kyi became the second Asian woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. However, she and her family were still separated from each other and could not attend the peace award ceremony in person. She couldn't even see her husband's last face before he died.
