Kansas (Hopper) is a stunt coordinator responsible for filming horses in a western film in a small village in Peru. After a tragedy in which an actor was killed in a stunt show, Kansas decided to quit the film industry and stay in Peru with a local woman. Kansas people thought he had found heaven, but was soon called in to help with a strange thing: Peruvian aborigines used wooden sticks to make "cameras" to "shoot" their own films and perform real Western film violence. because they don't know how to fake movies. The film touches on the opposition between fiction and reality, especially in films. The film is presented in a way that challenges the audience's traditional film narrative understanding, presenting the story in a non-chronological way, including devices that are usually seen only after the film is made (rough editing and "scene missing" cards), as well as the use of harsh jump clips.
