The film is adapted from Lily Brett's best-selling novel "Too Many Men". The story is set in 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Successful New York businesswoman Ruth Rothwax insists on bringing her elderly father back to his hometown of Poland, where she hopes to explore her Jewish heritage. However, although his father agreed to go back, he still did not want to go back to the places where he had been hurt. Although the film's subject matter is serious, there will be a lot of comedy passages. "The Iron Box" will be the last film in Julia von Heinz's "Aftermath Trilogy". The first two films are "Hannah's Journey" and "Tomorrow's Whole World". These three films look at the impact of Nazi Germany on society from very different perspectives.
