The biography of Dalton Trumbo, a famous Hollywood screenwriter. Trumbo entered Hollywood as a screenwriter in the 1930s and contributed classic works such as Roman Holiday, Exodus, Spartacus and Johnny to War. Behind the glory, Trumbo's career was actually very bumpy. He was persecuted by the non-American activities Committee (HUAC) in the late 1940s, was fired by MGM in 1950 and went to prison. After he was released from prison, he was blacklisted by the government and was unable to work for a time, so Trumbo borrowed other people's names to write the script. He won two best screenwriters for Roman Holiday and the Brave Man, but neither of the writers signed his name at that time. It was not until 1960 that Trumbo emerged from persecution and his screenwriting talent came to light.
