In England in the 19th century, the class divide was still very clear. On this day, Lucy (Helena Bonham Carter Helena Bonham Carter) from the upper class of England is on holiday in Florence with her cousin Charlotte. Unfortunately, Lucy's hotel room has no view. At the same time, the British father and son George (Julian Sands Julian Sands) and his father see that the enthusiastic father wants to change rooms with Lucy because he has a view from his room. Lucy disagreed at first and finally agreed under the persuasion of the kind-hearted shopkeeper. George and Lucy soon fell in love, but George, who came from a lower class, had a lot of "bad habits" that Lucy didn't like, and Charlotte didn't like George very much. Once, George "out of line" kissed Lucy. Lucy thought George was too "impolite" and went back to England alone. George soon returned to the country, however, by this time Lucy was engaged.
