Spencer and Warren, their childhood playmates, were rebellious, and they and two other students planned to go to the special collection library of the University of Transylvania to steal extremely precious Audubon prints and treasured books. The film is based on a true story and stems from a library robbery at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2004. The story looks very bizarre, but most of the plot is true. Four young people ruined their lives for one painting after another and carried out one of the most reckless robberies in American history. American Animals takes robbery movies to the extreme, blurring the line between reality and imagination in money, movies, and crazy stories in search of meaning.
