Miner Ka Suriname (Turo Pajala) works in a mine that is closed, so he has to drive a gift-given Cadillac to Helsinki to find another way out. A robbery on the road left him with only a Cadillac and a radio. Kasiname found a temporary job as a dock labourer, but his job was delayed. Kasiname became acquainted with Elemel, a female worker with a boy working in a slaughterhouse, and their lives soon merged into one. But soon after Kasiname was jailed for seeking revenge on the robbers, roommate Mikonan orchestrated the escape steps, and with the help of Elemel, Kasinan regained his freedom. The film won the Best Actor Award at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1989, the Phoebe Award for International Film critics, and the American Film critics Association Award for Best Foreign language Film in 1991. It is the second part of the proletarian trilogy directed by Aki Kaurism ä ki.
