Benito Freire (played by Jos é Luis L ó pez V á zquez) is a vendor in Galicia (in northwestern Spain) who also does chores such as leading the way and passing letters. But what is not known is that this honest and loyal peddler is a legendary blood-sucking werewolf. Unfortunately, it just happened. This film is adapted from Carlos Mart í nez-Barbeito's novel of the same name, based on real historical events that took place in the middle of the 19th century. Although the work is based on the werewolf story, it does not take the road of horror, but holds high the banner of realism. The film won the San Gregorio Award of that year's (1970) Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain.
