Middle-aged, the life of New York-based composer Harvey Shane (Dustin Hoffman Dustin Hoffman) is going downhill. In his early years, he divorced his wife (Kathy Baker), and his wife took her daughter (Liane Balaban) to London to start a new life; he worked hard all his life, but ended up being fired by his boss at any time. One weekend, Harvey flew to London to attend his daughter's wedding, only to find that his daughter's stepfather (James Brolin) had taken his place. Worse things followed, and Harvey missed his return flight, thus losing his already shaky job. Harvey, who lingers at the British airport, accidentally encounters a middle-aged woman named Kate Walker (Emma Thomson Emma Thompson). Kate specializes in work and has a rough emotional road. Two people at the end of the world met unexpectedly, and it seemed that a new story slowly unfolded.
