Jean Valjean (Liam Neeson) faces 20 years in prison for stealing bread. After being released by Sheriff Javert (Geoffrey Rush), his status as a prisoner has hit many obstacles. The desperate Jean Valjean is taken in by the kind bishop (Peter Vaughan). Jean Valjean stole the bishop's silver and attempted to abscond.
