The second World War documentary produced by American director John Huston. His last documentary, the Battle of St. Petro (The Battle of San Pietro,1945), was cut from five films by the military to three because it showed the cruelty of war. The film was banned by the military for 40 years because it showed soldiers suffering from shell shock and other insanity caused by fighting. In 1982, the film was allowed to be released, which bears witness to the cruelty of the war and the director's sympathy for life.
