Vitttorio Gassman (Vittorio Gassman) plays different roles in the nine episodes of this unusual Italian comedy. He plays everything from actual clowns to prisoners, commenting on romance, love and women in general, as the title suggests. Before that, Gassman worked with screenwriters Ruggero Maccari and Ettore Scola (who also co-wrote rather than directed) and directed Il Sorpasso in 1962 by director Dino Risi. It was the teamwork of Risi and Maccari that helped Gassman win the "Best Actor" award for Profumo di Donna / Scent of a Woman at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival. Gassman will then cooperate with S again on an occasional basis with Maccari and Ettore.
