On the north coast of Portugal, five different generations of women are working together to run their family hotel, trying to save it from an inevitable decline. At the same time, the family is mired in a long-standing contradiction: they can't learn to love their daughters, so they don't know how to be a mother. The sudden arrival of granddaughter Salom é (Madalena Almeida) messes up the situation, with all the old wounds torn open and potential and deposited resentment coming to the surface. So her mother Piedade (Anabela Moreira) made a very bold decision. This book tells the story of the hotelier's family and was shortlisted for the main competition unit of the 73rd Berlin Film Festival. Its sister film "Viver Mal" focuses on guests visiting the hotel and is shortlisted for the same year's adventure unit.
