Shakespeare's love tragedy Romeo and Juliet has been put on the screen 12 times since it was published in 1595, among which the 1968 version directed by Frank Geoffrey has been regarded as a model since its publication. In the fifteenth century, there lived in Verona, Italy, two distinguished families with high prestige and sharp opposition to each other. There are constant bloody disputes between them. Romeo of the Montayue family (Leonard Whiting Leonard Whiting) and Juliet of the Capulet family (Olivia Hussey Olivia Hussey). But fell in love at first sight and got married privately. Juliet's cousin was mistakenly killed by provoking Romeo, and Romeo was exiled outside the city. In order to avoid the forced marriage of her family, Juliet faked her death with the help of the priest. When Romeo knew, she came back to see Juliet sleeping in the tomb. In despair, she drank poison and committed suicide. When Juliet woke up and saw her lover die, she stabbed herself in the chest with a dagger and died.
