John (Richard Gill Richard Gere) faces a typical midlife crisis: even with a happy family and a decent career, inner emptiness and stress multiply with age. His immutable life needs some catalyst to reawaken his inner passion. Every time he passes the dance studio, John sees Polina, the dance teacher (played by Jennifer Lopez Jennifer Lopez). Her beautiful and slightly mysterious charm, coupled with some kind of life change that John expected in his heart, finally brought him into the dance lessons. He signed up for the social dance training here, but it was disappointing that the teacher was not Polina. To make matters worse, John danced clumsily and didn't seem to be the type to dance. However, when learning to dance became a part of John's life, and when he finally met Polina and hit it off with her, things began to change-John signed up for a Chicago dance contest, and John's marriage gave a red light.
