Father Anthony Camping (Hugh Grant Hugh Grant) is entrusted by the church to travel to a remote Australian town with his wife Estella to persuade the painter Norman Lindsey (Sam Neil Sam Neill) to remove a blasphemous painting from his upcoming solo exhibition. As soon as they got out of the car, the couple found themselves in a strange situation: the old man who was full of foul-mouthed words and the drinkers who were lazily telling cold jokes in the pub all revealed their unfriendliness. The painter Lindsay himself is even more determined to be uncooperative. The chaotic arguments at the dinner table, the indifferent behavior of male and female models, and the antagonism between small town residents and painter models led to Father Kangping's task and changed Estella's thought and behavior slowly. Estella decided to do something for them before she left in the face of the estrangement between a pair of models caused by herself.
