This film is based on real events. Mark Whitaker (Matt Damon), a nutrition-biochemist, is a vice president of AMD in Decatur, Illinois, USA. The trial of new lysine products he led continued to fail. Mark reported that a Japanese competitor instigated an AMD employee to maliciously poison it. The company reported the case to the FBI, who began tapping Mark's home phone calls. A horrified Mark was worried that his illegal behavior of helping the company and global lysine producers jointly disrupt free competition and raise market prices would be exposed. Under the persuasion of his wife, Ginny (Melanie Lynskey), he took the initiative to expose the company's price limit to the FBI. With the assistance of FBI agents Bryan (Scott Bakula) and Robert (Joel McHale), Mark becomes an FBI informant and begins collecting criminal evidence of the company. But no one expected that while Mark exposed AMD's illegal price limit behavior, he also concealed a series of unspeakable secrets... The film won gold...
