Homeless Frank Chambers (John Garfield John Garfield) is attracted by the beautiful landlady Cora Smith (Lana Turner Lana Turner) in a small restaurant by the side of the road. Just as the restaurant is looking for a job, he stays and becomes a waiter. Nick, the restaurant owner, is much older than Cora. When Frank sees the opportunity, he flirts with Cora many times, and finally the two fall in love.
