This film is adapted from the American writer Walter Ken's novel of the same name. Ryan Bringham (George Clooney George Clooney) works for a company in Omaha, Nebraska, that provides layoffs for other companies. He spends more than 300 days a year firing people across the country, almost making his home at the airport. On a routine layoff trip, Ryan meets business beauty Alex (Vera Farmiga Vera Farmiga). The two fall in love at first sight, but are both content to maintain a casual sexual relationship. At the same time, Ryan's new college student Natalie (Anna Kendrick Anna Kendrick) has been favored by the company's president, trying to promote the reform of remote layoffs through online video conferencing. Ryan opposes change, but has to take Natalie around as an intern to familiarize himself with the business. The film received six nominations for Best Director, Best Picture, Best Actor (George Clooney), Best supporting Actress (Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick) and Best adapted Screenplay, and six nominations for Best Director and Best Picture at the Golden Globes, and best screenplay by the Los Angeles Film critics Association.
