The beginning of the German new film movement. The Jewish Anita's family was persecuted and fled to the Federal Republic of Germany alone, hoping to find a better life in a new place. But the reality is at odds with her imagination. She was given a suspended sentence for stealing a colleague's sweater. In order to survive, she kept changing her job, wandering everywhere, without real help and affection, and all she tasted was human neglect and life humiliation.
