Podiyankulam, a remote village in the southern Tamil Nadu state, has a special tradition: those who can jump off a cliff and split a fish thrown on the other side in half will have the "Village Sword"; those who choose to accept the challenge but cannot cut the fish in half will be beheaded by the villagers. In 1997, a young man named Karnan rose into the air and became the owner of the sword. There is a feud between Podiyankulam and the neighboring village of Melur, whose villagers come from lower castes and are oppressed for years. The story begins with a bus that refuses to pass by Podiyankulam. Under the political influence of Melur villagers, the willingness of Podiyankulam village to write many times to set up a bus stop in the village was rejected. Villagers were not allowed to wait at the bus stop in Melur village if they wanted to go out, and they were bullied and harassed by Melur villagers for a long time while waiting for the bus. After several bus refusals, villagers led by Karnan smashed a bus that refused to take a pregnant woman in front of their eyes.
