A stockbroker died in a shooting incident at the company on his son's birthday. Two years later, the widow of the deceased sues the gun manufacturer Vicksburg for huge compensation. Rohr (Dustin Hoffman Dustin Hoffman), a lawyer with more than 30 years of experience, prefers to choose a jury based on his personal experience, but accepts to work with jury screening consultant Lawrence because such cases against gun companies are less successful than lost. On the other hand, gun companies hire Lanjin (Gene Hackman), a well-known jury screening consultant, to conduct a comprehensive background investigation of jury members in order to control the jury. Young Nick (John Cusack) is selected as a jury, but his purpose seems to be not simple from the beginning. Nick uses a variety of means to compete with the power of Blue King within the jury, and Nick's partner Mary (Rachel Weisz) sends a signal to Luor and Blue King at the same time, promising them to pay to control the jury. While Blue King was struggling with Nick, his men discovered Nick's real intentions.
