The film tells a touching story of tears in a smile between the glassmaker Charlotte (Charlie Chaplin Charles Chaplin) and the abandoned baby (Jackie Kogan Jackie Coogan). Charlotte found an abandoned baby by the dumpster and adopted him. By the time the child reaches the age of four or five, he will be very sensible. The two father and son played a duet together, and the son broke the glass, and the father came forward to change the glass to support the family. Charlotte took his "son" to avoid being pursued by the police so that he would not be sent to the orphanage. But the child's mother later had the money and offered a reward to retrieve the child. Someone stole the child from Charlotte for money, but he tracked it everywhere but could not find it. The tired Charlotte came to heaven in a dream. When he woke up, he found his "son" and his mother standing in front of his eyes. The film ranked 67th among the 100 best pictures selected by Brazil's title magazine in 1978.
