The Legend of Barney Thomson, starring Scottish actor Robert Carlisle, is also Carlisle's directorial debut. The film tells the story of the protagonist Thomson involved in a series of manslaughter after a dispute and asking his funny and violent mother for help while working at a barber shop in Glasgow, Scotland's largest city. Her mother, played by Emma Thompson, an Oscar-winning British actress who wears a lot of makeup and speaks with a Glasgow accent, is impressive.
