In 1241, the Mongol army led by Genghis Khan's sons marched westward, and their lives were destroyed wherever they went. When they arrived in the Carpathian Mountains, the Belkut brothers, a local hunter, secretly entered the camp in Mongolia and released the hostages. The angry Mongolian general decided to retaliate by destroying local settlements in Carpathian. A traitor among the locals told the Mongols about the secret passage in the mountains, but a small group of mountain hunters led by the Belkut brothers had their own plans to stop the Mongol attacks. Based on Ivan Franco's novella Zakhar Burkut.
